Ways To Overcome Anxiety and Win Back Control of Your Mind

With the demands of everyday life taking its toll, it is easy for people to become stressed and anxious. Throw a worldwide pandemic into the mix, and it’s near enough impossible to avoid a crippling sense of anxiety. Anxiety comes when we feel out of control. It’s safe to say that 2020 has been a whole load of stuff outside of our control. With that in mind, the way to overcome anxiety is to focus on the things that are within our control. Here are some of them.

Switch Off Your Phone

One of the easiest ways to distract ourselves from everyday responsibility is also one of the easiest ways to make us feel sad at times. Scrolling mindlessly through social media may be a quick and easy way to escape, but with the wrong mindset, this can cause a rabbit hole of emotions that we don’t want to deal with. If people share scaremongering articles filled with conspiracy theories, the feeling of anxiety can take over - particularly when we are all dealing with a pandemic at the moment. Switch off your phone and do something not surrounding technology to remind yourself of how lovely your life can be.

Don’t Put Things Off

Some things are simply unavoidable, and being worried about a particular deadline can be increased through procrastination. Take the time to organize things in a way that would allow for specific breaks in work. Setting yourself a time or word limit when completing a task can improve your productivity through the prospect of the reward at the end of it. Putting things off not only adds to the anxiety but can also be

detrimental to your health. If you find yourself putting off a dental appointment because you’re scared of what the dentist will say, often our anxiety will go wild making us think of worst case scenarios without ever seeing the dentist. When you actually make that appointment, you will feel the instant relief of knowing how to deal with the issue. Getting things done and dealt with can be a huge relief and

therefore can decrease anxiety. Do yourself a favor and don’t sweat the small stuff- just get it done!

Eat A Good Meal

Sometimes, symptoms of anxiety can display themselves in a physical way. They may increase feelings of nausea, so the last thing that someone feeling anxious may want to do is to eat a meal. However, the blood-sugar drop from not eating can increase anxiety levels, too. Feed yourself healthy foods with complex carbohydrates that won’t spike your blood sugar levels, fats to keep you full, and proteins that restore and repair the body. If you don’t feel like eating, find yourself supplements by searching online for CBD oil uk, shakes, or vitamins to help you to get the things you need. While it may be tempting to indulge in comfort foods to make you feel better, it’s important to watch what you eat as a form of self-care.

Anxiety displays itself differently in many ways to different people. The most important thing is to know that you are not alone.
