Girls Compete; Women Empower

Take yourself back to the 90's: The Spice Girls (my most favourite band ever) were bursting into the spotlight and "girl power" became a worldwide phenomenon.

More recently, everyone seems to have become a feminist, demanding that women are treated equal to men (which I am all for) and vocally expressing their support for other women.

An Open Letter to my Almost Two Year Old.

Two years old. When on earth did that happen?

This time last year I was planning what to do for your First birthday and the year before that I was 29 weeks pregnant and getting more and more impatient by the day.

Think Before You Type.

Everyone has seen those cryptic Facebook statuses which apparently are to help raise awareness for different diseases and conditions; from telling everyone your current bra colour or stating a number linked to your relationship status. I have always wondered what these actually achieve? Surely a donation to a charity would help more than a Facebook post which actually doesn't link to the condition that it claims to be raising awareness for?

The Baby Blues - My Experience

We have all heard of the phrase 'the baby blues' at some point in time.

What a lot of people don't realise is just how many mothers, and even fathers, can be affected by Post Natal Depression (PND). This can range from mild, feeling low days to suffering from psychosis.
Studies have found that between ten and fifteen in every one hundred women are affected by this illness, along with one in ten fathers. When looking at these figures, it is clear that PND is just as common in men as it is in women. (nct.org.uk)

Are You Ready To Escape Reality?

I was recently invited along to Escape Reality in Cardiff to test my escaping skills. Now, you can ask anyone and they will tell you how competitive I am. When I told my husband about it he looked a bit worried and questionned as to whether I should be taking part as according to him, I get "crazy". Him saying that just made me want to go even more if I'm honest.
